*m RODMAN PUBLIC LIBRARY Mother Nature had some big hits of her own this the best of 93-94 year, but the Aviators weren't going to be outdone Greatest Hits by mere blizzards and solar eclipses. AHS was home to some of the best that 93-94 had to offer.

I able of ontents Freshmen 52 < Magnificent Mural is a Hit!

I 1 Putting the final touches on the face of Ace. The vocational Commercial Art class (see page 141) spent about 150 man-hours and more than $200 of their club funds to grace the gymnasium with a striking mural. The 53 by 23 foot masterpiece was done during evenings on school nights and Saturday afternoons.

Major retinal damage was a concern for the science teachers who set up various ways for hundreds of students and faculty to observe the solar eclipse. No one's fears were realized, though, as the sun did come back and nobody went blind. ... and elsewhere the halls and classrooms were busy with the usual activities that make AHS the unique collection of hits that it is.

Greatest Hits of the Class of ? BLOOD DAY *94 The Senior Class Blood Day was a success once again in '94. It was held on March 30, from 9:00 am until 3:00pm. The General Chairman, Jeni Menegay, stated, "It was a great experience working with the adult coordinator, Mrs. Grisez and the senior class, and I hope to see the tradition continued." Only 56 students preregistered to donate but on the actual day 110 students gave blood. 172 pints of blood were donated and 33 people were deferred for various reasons.

Student Committee Coordinators Kim Pinter, escort; Carrie Mason, bag table; Jeff Schafer, registration; Tricia Swain and Heidi Brown, canteen.

Committee chairpersons Amanda Morrison, Jaime Russo, Leeza Glazier, Danielle Johnson, Tricia Krabill, Gina Freconna, Carrie Snyder, Matt Horning, Dan Griffith, John Ritchie, Joe Tolley, Brean Sprague, Shante Brisker and Nate Weibush made the evening a success with their outer space decor.

Homecoming 1993

Homecoming Week 1993 kicked off with Spirit Days October 4- 8. Monday was "Oriental Day," to tie in with this year's dance theme. Tuesday was "Hoover's Behind the Times," when students wore clothes from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Twin Day was Wednesday, while Thursday was "Mourn the Loss of Hoover Day," and the attire was all black. The week ended with the traditional "Red and Blue Day." Friday night brought the Homecoming game against Hoover. The Aviators captured the victory by beating the Vikings 25-22. The Homecoming queen and king were also crowned during the evening. Key Club secretary Tyler Henderson crowned Queen Trisha Papley and Key Club vice-president Allison West crowned King Dave Brandon. Trisha's court consisted of Carrie Randel, Dawn Jones, and Gwynne Russell, while Dave's court included Sean Paulus, Joe Brady, and Chris Craig. The week concluded with the Homecoming dance, held October 9. The theme for the evening was "Night of Enchantment," with Oriental King Dave Brandon and Queen Trisha Papley were crowned decorations including fans, screens, a dragon, and fortune cookie at the game, as well as the 1993 court, including Sean Paulus, Joe Brady, Chris Craig, Dawn Jones, Carrie Randel, and refreshments. 71 Three "One-Act" Productions J\. Night of Comedy !

On November 12th and 13th, "A Night of Comedy!" was presented on the Alliance High School stage. Three plays were presented; "Wanted: One Groom", "The Other Other Woman", and "Cinderella Wore Combat Boots" all directed by Mrs. Nancy Holub. The audience was entertained by the talented young actors and actresses who took the stage, telling the audience to the difficulties of advertising for a husband, relating the intricasies of relationships in the nineties, and having just plain fun in a parody of a children's classic. All- in-all, it was a weekend of good entertainment for the community and a great experience for the young comedians of Alliance High School.

A J.V. FOOTBALL

The J.V. football team suffered a long hard season. They ended up with two wins, St. Thomas and Wooster, and seven losses. Quarter back, Chet Jones, stated "There was major improvement in the sixth and seventh games and we had to win the eighth game, St. Thomas. It got to the point where we had to win. It's better we ended the season at 2-7 then 1-8." Ron Pownall said, "Coming from a winning season it's hard to go out with a losing season, especially as a senior." He also felt that the coaching and talent was good.

152 After a narrow loss in the first round of the county tournament, the Academic Challenge team roared back to take the annual Kiwanis - Mt. Union College competition held at the Mt. Union Theater March 13. The 94 tournament was expanded to feature nine teams and the Aviators moved to the championship round by defeating West Branch and St. Thomas by the narrowest of margins, ten points. The championship match proved to be even closer when an extra tie-breaker round was necessary after Alliance and Marlington finished the "regulation" round with 200 points each. But the least experienced AHS team in years (led by veteran sophomore Scott Lundgren) refused to bow to the pressure and calmly brought the traveling trophy back home with a twenty point victory. Junior Matt Horning and senior Ian Craig rounded out the championship crew. Sophomores Shannon Faith, Chad Lacher and Aaron Swartz made up the rest of the 93-94 team.

(left, seated) Shannon Faith, Aaron Swartz and Scott Lundgren. (standing) Chad Lacher and Matt Horning, (below) Ian Craig proudly displays the coveted trophy.
