It is essential that you take the time to acquire the correct gear. Don’t wait ‘til the last minute to find out your local shop doesn’t have your size. Good equipment is expensive, but using the mantra “buy it once, buy it right” will end up saving you money in the long run. The purpose of this gear list is to help your purchases. Often salespeople in your hometown do not have first hand knowledge of the diverse requirements of our trips, so be sure to balance their advice with what you read here.
