Do you know of any young people who would be interested in attending an event where they can have their say about local issues and meet with other young people to discuss topics that matter to them?

If so, then please let us know! Warrington children's services and Warrington integrated youth support services are holding four conferences, one in each local area, during the October half-term for young people to come along and have their say. These conferences are aimed at 13-19 year olds (up to age 25 for young people with disabilities).

Please note that pre-booking is recommended. Please ensure that all young people have appropriate photographic consent as pictures and filming will take place at the events.

When and where? G Monday, 27 October 2008 East Youth Conference at Birchwood Community High School G Tuesday, 28 October 2008 South Youth Conference at Sir Thomas Boteler High School G Thursday, 30 October 2008 West Youth Conference at Great Sankey High School G Friday, 31 October 2008 North Youth Conference at William Beaumont Community High School. Conferences start at approximately 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm. Why? We want to kick start future youth involvement and through these conferences we aim to: G interest young people in taking part in future youth involvement opportunities and ask them what format they would like these to take G interest young people in various issues relating to local democracy and other youth involvement processes G explore the issues and opinions of young people that are specific to each of the local areas.

How? There will be a wide range of fun interactive and participative consultation games and activity workshops, many of which will be planned and delivered by young people as well as agencies working with young people across Warrington. As there is a conference in each area, we encourage young people to discuss topics of importance to them about their local area.

Consultation topics include: G local issues and concerns that interest or bother young people G how young people would like to get involved in local democracy and future area youth opportunities G how young people would like to communicate with decision makers and elected members G how young people would like to receive information on local issues and opportunities.
