Sustrans has bought a 400 metre stretch of the Bridport-Maiden Newton railway near Loders. They intend the land to be an amenity for local people, with a picnic bench and grassed area. Sustrans is also close to completing a licence agreement with Dorset Wildlife Trust to run the trailway across Powerstock Common. Agreement is close on leasing the section from Powerstock Common to Toller Porcorum, and the section eastwards into Toller. If agreements on all sections are reached, they offer the prospect of a complete stretch of path, from Toller Porcorum to the western edge of Powerstock Common, with permissive footpaths at either end.
