October - December 2010 Welcome to the second edition of ‘Walk Enfield’.

The Everybody Active Team in Enfield, comprising of Sports Development and Physical Education, are working with a range of partners (listed on the back of this brochure) to offer a range of physical activities to try and increase the number of young and older people engaging in moderate exercise.

Guided walks are a popular physical activity in the Borough and many of these take place in our parks. The majority are FREE however you may need to contact the organisers to reserve a place.

Walking is a great way to get fit and introduce physical activity into your daily life. Regular walking can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, osteoporosis and arthritis. It can also help you to deal with anxiety and stress, and reduce body fat. It is recommended that adults participate in at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity that leaves you slightly breathless every day. Taking part in one of these walks means that you can achieve this. It requires no previous experience and you can take part at your own pace with family members or socialise with a new group of friends.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Sport Bookings Team, based in the Enfield Sports Development department, if you have any queries or require further information on 020 8379 3762
