Product Positioning

The latest IntelliStation M Pro (6889) offers a suite of professional workstation solutions to help you achieve higher levels of productivity and creativity. The models provide an optimal migration path for users who are moving from UNIX -based applications to Windows NT Workstation applications. The price/performance advantages and manageability of the IntelliStation platform encourage more and more customers to migrate from UNIX to Windows NT Workstation. Because some UNIX applications have not yet been ported to Windows NT Workstation, IntelliStations can be enabled to run UNIX applications through a suite of Hummingbird software solutions, such as Exceed or NFS Maestro Solo. A Hummingbird “try and buy” software suite is shipped with each system. Hummingbird allows the IntelliStation M Pro to access UNIX-based applications (X clients) and NFS-based resources from within the familiar Windows NT Workstation operating environment. (Hummingbird Communications, Ltd., offers a special price on their applications to purchasers of an IntelliStation M Pro. Refer to the README file on the “try and buy” CD for details.) The manageability features of the IntelliStation family benefits all users, not just those with hundreds of machines on their networks. Using Wake on LAN, LANClient Control Manager, Client Services for Netfinity, or Intel LANDesk Client Manager, most administration and management of a network can be accomplished from a remote administration location. This reduces the number of on-site calls needed to administer a network. From its elegant exterior design to its uncluttered interior the system has been thoughtfully designed for Upgradability and power. A powerful 330 W power supply provides power to spare for the most robust configurations. These new IntelliStation M Pro models use the Matrox Millennium G400, the IBM Fire GL1, the I3D 4000, or the Appian J Pro, leaving up to five free expansion slots.
