Structure: 20S/M Depth of the bolt hole (mm): 10X22,10X23 KEY FEATURES: The First set of crimps ever to come out of Bleaustone was the original Fontainbleau crimps, from 2005. They have been amongst the most popular holds out of the whole series, and have had a long and happy service life. But after 8 years they have decided to go into retirement and make way for a younger, fresher looking set of crimps; the new 2013 Fontainebleau Crimps. With the addition of the new edges in the Font line, we thought it best we now bring the 2013 crimps onto the next level. These crimps are more functional for the route setter, no longer will you want to use one or two as foot holds, the grip options are better, split in to five categories, you will find positive holds for wall angles up to 60, 45, 30, 15 degrees as well as flat and slopey holds. They also carry the hallmark of the Fontainebleau Elephant-skin texture, which is on the highest possible level, and each hold features an extra screw hole.

la balance

KEY FEATURES: La Balance sums up the philoso- fontainebleau fontainebleau phy of climbing in Fontainebleau. In trying to recreate the feeling of climbing in font you can only go so far; we aspire to provide route setters the tools they need to allow them the widest range of creative possibilities and in doing so hope to recreate those magical feelings of climbing in the forest - a somewhat epic task. La balance is a hold that is a sloper that varies, but BLEAUSTONE also offers a chance to pinch and crimp, depending on how it is positioned. It can be placed anywhere providing screws can be used.

la patinoire

KEY FEATURES: La Patinoire is a hold inspired by the texture found in Fontainebleau that comes in the form of the smooth quartz; you might recall those small edgy crimps, precariously shiny foot holds that seem like ice - and somehow you stick. Le Patinoire is predominantly an edge, of many edges in one, depending on how you rotate it during setting. Parts of it are positive, but require some investigation to extract the most from it. So it is ideal for all ranges of routes and boulder problems. Fixed to the wall with screws only.

18 Le Pincemont

KEY FEATURES: Climbing in Fontainebleau requires a totally different approach to climbing. Unless you’re not human, the ‘pull and go approach’ doesn’t always work here. You have to rethink everything you ever thought about technique, and how you hold on to the rock. Any preconceived notions about what will work and what will not needs be left at home. The delicate and subtle nature of climbing in Font is, for all intents and purposes, almost impossible to recreate. We try, and here we have a hold that is subtle, requires you to hold it in ways that suit the problem, not you. How wide you can pinch, might help you; how hard you can crimp might too, it depends on how the route setter was feeling, and where he/she wants you to go. Used in the right way, this hold can be put anywhere, on any type of route or boulder problem. Fixed to the wall with screws only.

Le Ceour

KEY FEATURES: Le Coeur is the name of a boulder problem in Fontainebleau the sector of L’Éléphant. The name comes from the heart-shaped crimp-like hold on the face of the boulder. It is gained by delicate footwork and like most problems in Fontainebleau require good technique to hold and move away from to the final top out. This carving is the indoor climbing wall’s equivalent. Made slightly more positive to also suit steeper walls (>15 degrees), combined with some high-end route setting, any route setter can try to recreate a Fontainebleau classic 7a with this. fontainebleau

El Pousiff

KEY FEATURES: Another classic problem of Isatis, El Poussiff’s BLEAUSTONE main feature apart from being a technical odyssey is the pinch you have to use to drag your self to the top - unless of course you have been blessed elegant technique -synonymous with those literally born in the forest. This mini volume is a slopey, open-handed pinch designed to be a challenge on all wall angles being the most technical of all mini volumes in the series. Fixed to the wall with screws only. excalibour

KEY FEATURES: - The name inspired by another classic problem in font - Principle sloper, using the texture as differing grip options around the mini volume - Ideal for more challenging problems requiring finesse and balance - Fixed to the wall with screws only

19 La Statique

KEY FEATURES: One of the most prominent problems in Franchard Isatis, Le Statique has a huge amount of the ‘elephant’ skin texture covering it and is one of the most impressive pieces of rock formation in the forest. It is a classic problem of this particular area of Fontaine- bleau. This mini volume represents a tiny section of that rock, based on the crucial hold used to get you to the top. The pinch, or crimp, depending on how you use it is the main feature of the mini volume. Ideal for any level of route, either on a boulder, or route, it is positive enough to be put on an over hanging wall, and slopey enough to really challenge the climber. These mini volumes are fixed only with screws.

cortomaltese

KEY FEATURES: Inspiration As the name implies, It’s no surprise that this volume has been inspired by the infamous problem found in Bas Cuvier, Fontaine- bleau; Cortomaltese, font 7a. Where to use it This volume will draw a huge amount of attention, with stunning texture and size it will be an ideal addition to the perfect centre-piece route. Great for competitions, great for recreating a life-like Fontainebleau boulder problem. It is slopey on all surfaces, but each way it is positioned will give a different feel. Two main slopers on the top mimic those found on the actual problem when set on a wall between 0-15degrees - varying the wall angle will change the hold’s difficulty. Being extremely versatile, it’s perfect for all grades of prob- lem, but probably better suited to intermediate and hard problems. Special features This Cortomaltese volume has been created with

fontainebleau fontainebleau Bleaustone’s unique stylised Fontainebleau texture that you will not find on any other climbing hold, world-wide, with the same feeling. The volume mimics very closely the main two slopers and face of the problem found in Bas Cuvier but gives you added variability to allow the seasoned route setter to make the most creative of routes. Affixing Requirements The volume should be attached with screws, and all fixation points should be used. The length of fixing depends on the wall surface thickness; an adequate fixing length should consid-

Summary Inspired by the problem Cortomaltese from Bas Cuvier in Fontainebleau, a great centre-piece hold, perfect for creative route setting and extremely versatile - a true classic, created in the traditional Bleaustone style - to perfection.

FIX

• Always try and fix climbing holds to a perfectly flat surface. • Dual fixing option - you can use both countersunk or cap head M10 bolts. • Wherever possible, use the extra screw hole provided on some holds. • Do not over tighten, see website for ‘Recommended Torque Settings’ e.g. XS=10 Nm, S=20 Nm, M= 25 Nm, L = 30 Nm, X-large= 35 Nm Reduced holds= 20 Nm. • Avoid using impact drivers especially on smaller holds. • Keep fixings clean, this will help avoid cross threading. care

MgCO3

NO!

• Avoid dropping climbing holds. Over time, this can potentially weaken any type of climbing hold. • Fluorescent coloured holds should not be used outdoors. Please ask us for advice when re-ordering. • We recommend that climbers climb on the holds with chalk and clean the holds with a soft-bristled brush. • Climbing shoes should be worn, free from grit and dirt, as this will maintain the hold’s frictional properties for a longer period of time. • Any chips or sharp edges that develop should be removed with an appropriate abrasive e.g. sand paper or a file. • Climbing holds should be stored in a dry environment, as you would with your climbing gear. • Any material present on the steel washer will not affect the holds functionality and will easily break away after the first use.

clean

• We recommend that holds are washed with a high-pressure washer using cold water without detergent. Hot water (above 30ºC ) and detergents can potentially fade certain colours. • Specialty washing solutions e.g. acid-based products can be used. However, using higher concentrations or extended exposure to acid can strip the zinc plating off of the steel washer, and could make certain colours fade. In any case, the strength of a hold will not be affected. • Ask us for advice if you have any queries with regard to a product’s suitability.

92 colours

Our colours will be consistent within each order and from order to order. The UV stability of our standard colours is of the highest possible e.g. Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Black, White and are recommended for outdoor use. Fluorescent pigments have a Low UV stability and are therefore NOT recommended for use outdoors.
