Stephen Douglas Music Teacher 39 Coronation Road EX2 5BZ T: 07983 727538 E: [email protected] PERSONAL SUMMARY

For several years I have been teaching privately at secondary schools in including , Honiton College, The Kings School Ottery St Mary and College. I have built up a good reputation for students enjoying their lessons and developing as musicians. Many of my students have successfully passed Trinity and Rockschool Grade 8 exams and several have gone on to study at music colleges such as Leeds College of music and a student gaining full scholarship to Wells Cathedral School to study tuned percussion. Many more enjoy playing in bands, orchestras and ensembles. I am always keen for my students to get involved with school productions and concerts because of the positive effect this has on their development as musicians. I regularly help students prepare their GCSE composition and performance pieces and they get good results.

I set up a tuned percussion ensemble for students in Exeter and coach percussionists in Exeter Children’s Orchestra.

As a professional musician I regularly play for orchestras, theatre pit bands, function bands, rock, jazz and swing bands.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and believe that I have the experience and enthusiasm to inspire students and develop their musical interest. I am particularly interested in the position at Wellington School because of the opportunity it gives for developing pupils’ enthusiasm in tuned percussion.
