This week has been much nicer and fingers crossed it continues for the final week of the program, next week. The Swimming Sports for Years 3 to 6 will be next Friday, 2nd March. Miss Costelloe and Mr Venn have been busy making adjustments to last year’s program to ensure all student have the opportunity to participate. We visited Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus and had a quick walk through some of the residential accommodation options (it was unfortunate so many students were in residence so we were unable to look into their bedrooms) and students were given advice for applying for on campus residences in 2019 or after a GAP Year. MiniLit and MacqLit Request for Parent volunteers We are looking for parents who would be interested in helping us to deliver early intervention programs targeting reading in the P- 6 area. Tell me more. MiniLit and MacqLit are small group literacy intervention programs for low progress readers in Year 1 and 2 (MiniLit) and year 3 and above for MacqLit . Every session is scripted and involves explicit teaching of phonic skills in isolation and in text. Do I need any experience? No. Training will be provided and you are given a script to follow. You only say what is written down in front of you and wait for the students’ responses. It is carefully sequenced, clear, and easy to follow. How often is it run? A small group would work through an hour long session with their tutor 4 times a week. But whatever time you could commit to would be very much appreciated. The programs would run between 9 and 11am We will not be commencing the program till swimming finishes, but if you are interested and would like to know more, please fill out the form below and return it to school with your child. If you have any further questions please contact Gill Hampson or myself on 55 983381 Thank you, Lee McLeod
