Instructions for Preparing OS 10.12 Sierra to Install Vista V2

These instructions outline the procedure to prepare a MAC that has OS 10.12 Sierra installed in order to install and run Vista v2. Note: Users must have full read/write access to install and run the application.

Preamble:

Gatekeeper is a macOS feature that helps protect your Mac from malware and misbehaving apps downloaded from the Internet. In macOS Sierra Gatekeepeer is now stricter than ever, defaulting to only allow options for apps downloaded from either the App Store or the App Store and identified developers.

To run the current version of Jands Vista, Mac users must allow a third option, which existed in previous versions of OSX, to allow apps downloaded from anywhere.

How to Allow Apps from Anywhere in Gatekeeper for macOS Sierra

1. Quit out of if it is open 2. Open the Terminal app from the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and then enter the following command syntax:

3. sudo spctl --master-disable

4. Press return and authenticate with an admin password. (NB Your password will not appear on screen while typing and you must press the ‘return’ key to finish). 5. Quit the Terminal application 6. Re‐open System Preferences and go to “Security & Privacy” and the “General” tab 7. Select the “Anywhere” option which should now appear under ‘Allow apps downloaded from:’

You can now install and run Vista

After Vista has been opened once you can reverse the above procedure or just select one of the alternate Gatekeeper options to increase your security options.
