INTERVIEW June 23, 2018 BRETT FAVRE DEREK JETER ANDY NORTH LEE TREVINO BILL WESTRATE INTERVIEW June 23, 2018 BRETT FAVRE DEREK JETER ANDY NORTH LEE TREVINO BILL WESTRATE: (in progress) brought to you by all of our PGA TOUR Champions and, of course, our celebrity foursome. Didn't they do a great job for us today? I'm Bill Westrate, I'm president of American Family Insurance, and I'm really, really proud to be here today and ask that you again welcome our celebrities, Brett Favre, Andy North, Derek Jeter and Lee Trevino. Thank you, guys. Gentlemen, your participation in this event obviously brings out big crowds and adds excitement to the overall tournament. I'm pleased to share with you today that we've actually had record attendance today again, so let's hear it for them once again. More importantly, that means we've raised more money for the American Family Children's Hospital and other local charities and we really appreciate you being a part of it. And of course we want to congratulate our winners today. Congratulations, Brett and Andy, at 4 under par. Let's hear it for them. American Family Insurance will be donating $25,000 in your names to the American Family Children's Hospital. Again, let's hear it for our winners today. So it's rare to have all-stars of this caliber in our midst and I'm sure you want to hear from them about all the action on the course today. So to do that, we've engaged some help here with another legend of his own on the golf course. He is an 11-time PGA Tour winner, a 10-time PGA Tour Champions Tour winner, and also an analyst on NBC Golf Channel, please welcome Mr. John Cook. ANDY NORTH: It's an Ohio State guy. JOHN COOK: You had to bring that up, didn't you? I've got my scarlet and gray on and everything. Come on, there's got to be one Buckeye in here. I know you're not, I know Derek is not, I know Brett's not. ANDY NORTH: Not a chance. JOHN COOK: I'm just happy to be here sitting in the middle of a lot of legends. Just have a couple questions for you all, and Derek, I'll start with you. Tee-Scripts.com 1 It's been a couple years since the old No. 2 retired from the Yankees, and I know you're not playing a lot of golf because you are busy, but what do you take away from a day like this playing golf amongst these great players? DEREK JETER: It's a great experience to come out here, obviously. Throughout my career philanthropy was always important. It's important to me, it's important to my family. So everyone here, all the spectators that showed up, all deserve a round of applause because this is what it's all about, is giving back to the community and American Family Insurance does it as well as anyone. So this is for you. JOHN COOK: Well said, Derek. Brett, you've now played with Andy North, two-time U.S. Open champion, Hall of Famer, Lee Trevino, of course Derek Jeter, and you make the winning putt. So my question to you would be, what do you all have in common that made you so great? Anything that you see, similarities in the qualities? BRETT FAVRE: Well, I can't compare it to golf. Andy -- and actually I played with Lee about 20 years ago in the Cadillac Classic in Montclair, New Jersey. I thought it was such a hoot to play with him back then. The guy can still play and so can Andy. It's really humbling to play golf with these guys. You realize how bad you really are. You know, I think the competitive spirit -- Lee, for example, 79 years old, right, Lee? He wants to win, believe me, and he's going to tell you about it the whole time. You know what I'm talking about, John? But it's just a lot of fun, a blast, and I'm thankful I get invited back every year. JOHN COOK: And Lee, Hall of Famer, you've played with the greats of the game, you've played with the greats of people. We're so blessed to be able to do what we do. A day like this playing with Derek and Brett and your great old friend Andy, what do you take away from a day like this? LEE TREVINO: Well, I knew exactly what Andy was going to do. Andy's always hit the ball nine miles and he's a good putter. I don't know why he quit playing as soon as he did. I think he could still compete out there on the senior tour as far as he can hit it. JOHN COOK: I know he can. LEE TREVINO: But it's such a pleasure to play with these two Hall of Famers and what they've done in their sport. That's the one thing that we look at. I mean, I know a lot of -- all the golfers and all the great ones, and I guess my first acquaintance was Mr. Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, so I've gone down that line before. But to play with Derek is fantastic. I watched him at shortstop for so many years Tee-Scripts.com 2 because -- I didn't tell him this because he's here today, but I'm a Yankee fan, believe it or not. I've been a Yankee fan for 30-some years and I love that ballclub. And Brett, all the old football players at Green Bay were my buddies. Paul Hornung, Max McGee, Jesse Whittenton. I played with the great Mr. Lombardi. I mean, I've gone right down the line. I've partied with those boys. ANDY NORTH: Why does that not surprise me? LEE TREVINO: I'm telling you. They used to come to El Paso and we would end up in Juárez, baby. But it's great to be here, thank you. Great to be here. JOHN COOK: Always great to be around my great old friend, Lee Trevino. Andy, two-time U.S. Open champion, Madison native, I know that you must be really proud of the community support here in Madison for the American Family Insurance Championship and its charities. How proud are you of the community and their support? ANDY NORTH: Yeah, this is absolutely fantastic. What Steve's been able to do with Jack's help at AmFam, the community support's been amazing. A great example, the four caddies that we had today all paid money going to charities to be able to caddie for us today, so thank you for doing that. And Jack, thank you for giving us the opportunity to do this. We're going to have a great Sunday and Strick's got to go out there and shoot 62 or something, doesn't he? That would make it a great Sunday for us. JOHN COOK: That would be a great script. Again, I'm just privileged to sit in the middle of just greatness and I appreciate it. On behalf of the PGA TOUR Champions, we have to thank AmFam for stepping up and having a great event. Without your support, obviously the PGA TOUR Champions couldn't have an event like this and we're so happy to be able to support it. And thanks to all the fans and everybody else to come out and support the event as well, and these great four right here put on a great show. On behalf of myself and the PGA TOUR Champions, thank you very much. Tee-Scripts.com 3 .
