P OWN REPORT T 2008 MASSACHUSETTS OWN OF ROCKLAND T ANNUAL FIREFIGHTERS OF THE YEAR CEREMONY T A ANNUAL BY GOVERNOR DEV ROCKLAND FIREFIGHTERS HONORED 2008 ROCKLAND TOWN REPORT 2008 AR & BOY WITH JESSICA OFFICER STEVEN SOMERS “THE GUARDIANS OF THE NIGHT” ROCKLAND POLICE K-9 ROCKLAND'S K-9 UNIT The Rockland Police K-9 Unit was started in December of 2005. Today the K-9 Unit consists of K-9 Officer/Handler Steven Somers, Patrol K-9 Boyar, and Narcotics K-9 Jessica (Jesse). The K-9 Unit supports the Patrol Division of the Rockland Police Department and serves the community with a variety of functions/services. The Rockland Fire Department responded to a call on The K-9 Unit can track fleeing criminals or missing persons. It was formerly the northeast section of Abington. Population was 4,000 when incorporated under its present name. Name: Rockland derived its name geologically from its rocky nature. A “large rock” is mentioned in the description of the Town Seal. Incorporated: March 9, 1874. (Acts of 1874-Chapter 44) Town Seal: For complete description of Town Seal, see Town of Rockland By-Laws, Article XXVIII, Section 28.02 County: Plymouth Location: Southeastern Massachusetts.     PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY- FEBRUARY 5, 2008 PROCEEDINGS The polls were opened at 7:00am in the Wilho Frigard Gymnasium of the Miscoe Hill School. Margaret Bonderenko swore in the poll workers. The ballot box was checked and shown to be empty by Margaret Bonderenko and Carol Cook, Warden. Poll Workers from open to 5pm were Carol Cook, Warden,,Gloria Hogarth, John Hogarth, Ruth O’Grady, Martha Gebelein, Robert Carlson and Mary Ames, Clerk. The officer on duty until 2pm was Philip Dunlavey. Guy Kloczkowski was the officer on duty until the close of polls.
