Description Walton House is a glorious blend of Stuart and Georgian architecture combined to create a most attractive family house. It is believed to be one of the oldest properties in the Stone area dating back to the mid 17th Century. Many of the rooms have original features such as the timber frame and large stone mullion fireplaces. These are complimented by the later Georgian features including the large sash windows and Adam style fireplace. More recent renovations have been carried out in a sympathetic manner to reflect the architectural styles. There are references in the to a property owned by Robert de Stafford on the site although the existing building is thought to be medieval or early Tudor in origin. In 1666, the property possessed 5 hearths, indicating that this was the largest house in the area. It is understood that the original roof of Walton House was steeply pitched, however, during the Georgian period, the original timbers were shortened and repositioned to form a gentler slope allowing a third storey to be formed on the front elevation. Shortly before the First World War, a further southern wing was added to the property. Consequently, Walton House contains extensive beautifully preserved original features which have been carefully renovated to form accommodation sought after for modern family life.

Accommodation Accommodation is set over three floors and offers an easy flow of formal and informal reception rooms as well as large double bedrooms. A large entrance hall with exposed timber beams and wide oak floor boards gives access to a large double reception room offering an elegant open drawing room and dining room providing excellent formal entertaining space with an attractive Adam style fireplace. By contrast the sitting room and study are dominated by the exposed timber frame and the sitting room has impressive flagstone floors and an open fireplace.

The kitchen/breakfast room is fitted with a range of painted hand built wall and base units with granite work surfaces and a range of integrated appliances including an Aga oven. Double doors give access out to the garden. A family room, cloakroom and laundry complete the ground floor. On the first floor there are five double bedrooms including a large master bedroom suite which retains an impressive mullioned fireplace as well as a guest bedroom with en-suite shower room. The second floor provides a further three bedrooms and bathroom, the largest of which has an exposed A frame. In addition there is a further large bathroom.

Gardens and Grounds Walton House is approached through discreet electric gates onto a gravel drive and leads to the front door and provides parking for several vehicles as well as access to the detached double garage. The driveway is surrounded by lawn with mature trees and shrubs.

There are private enclosed gardens on two further sides of Walton House. Immediately to the rear of the house is a private stone court yard which gives access to the Coach House Beyond is a further lawned area with productive apple trees. To the west side of the house is a stone terrace leading on to larger area of private lawn surrounded by mature yew, conifer hedging and wall. Accessible from the dining room it is ideal for outdoor entertaining.
