    NATIONAL COLLEGIATE MEN’S GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018 Championship 2 History 3 All-Time Team Results 14 2018 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Oklahoma's fourth national title makes history: The Sooners clinched their fourth consecutive championship title with a 414.858 first-place finish at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on April 21, 2018. Oklahoma became just the third program in history to win at least four consecutive national titles (Illinois from 1939 to 1942 and Nebraska from 1979 to 1982). The title is also the Sooners’ 12th overall – tying them with Penn State for most in NCAA history – and the ninth of head coach Mark Williams’ 19-year tenure. Sooner standout, Yul Moldauer, was sensational, becoming the first Oklahoma gymnast to win four individual national titles in one year (floor, vault, parallel bars, all-around). The junior has made his mark posting seven career titles, a program best. Oklahoma defeated Minnesota (411.923), Illinois (411.689), Stanford (408.725), Nebraska (403.589) and Penn State (401.991) in Saturday’s final. The runner-up finish is the best finish for Minnesota since 1990. The Gophers hit on every routine and had 11 named All-Americans, which is a school record. Stanford has maintained a top-5 finish every season since 2006. Moldauer finished first in floor with a score of 15.166, trailed by Illinois’ Sebastian Quiana and Michigan’s Jacob Moore who tied for second with a score of 14.366. Penn State’s Stephen Nedoroscik dominated pommel earning a 14.666, followed by Moldauer’s 14.533 mark. The Nittany Lion sophomore is now a two-time pommel horse national champion.

    Gymnastics NATIONAL COLLEGIATE MEN’S Highlights Team eff ort gives Cardinal milestone crown; Stanford becomes second school with 100 all-time crowns: After falling just short a year ago, Stanford came through with the clutch performance necessary to capture its second NCAA title in three years April 15. The Cardinal scored 363.450 to defeat second-place Oklahoma (361.600) and third-place Illinois (360.150). The NCAA title was also the 100th in Stanford athletics history, as the Cardinal became just the second university to accomplish that feat. Stanford men’s gymnastics has now won fi ve NCAA titles with the others coming in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 2009. It was the second under head coach Thom Glielmi, who took over the program for the 2003 season and has rebuilt Stanford into a perennial title contender. The Cardinal began on the parallel bars for the second consecutive night, but did not fare as well this time around. In the preliminaries, the Cardinal scored an NCAA season- best of 61.500. But, in the fi nals, Stanford scored a solid 59.950, knowing it might need to make up points in other events. Cameron Foreman and Ryan Lieberman led the Cardinal in the event, both scoring 15.200. The score for Foreman was a career best, which came at the right time, as he was sixth in the rotation with his team needing him to nail the routine. Alex Buscaglia was also solid with a 15.150, while Josh Dixon completed Stanford’s scoring with a 14.400. Stanford then shifted to the horizontal bar, which it led the NCAA coming into the championships.

    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The 2017-2020 Quad was a pivotal period for USA Gymnastics (USAG). The organization faced numerous challenges and experienced extraordinary changes. Despite these challenges our athletes continued to demonstrate athletic excellence highlighted by gold-medal winning performances by the Women’s team and a historic World Championship for Rhythmic in which two athletes finished in the top 10 for the first time ever. The USA Gymnastics that has emerged from the crisis is a new organization led by new leadership with a new athlete-centric mission and a new set of values that prioritizes athlete safety and wellness while still supporting athletes to achieve their athletic dreams. In this High Performance Plan, USA Gymnastics asks for the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC)’s support in achieving athletic excellence on the world stage while providing the resources needed to give our elite athletes the holistic mental and physical support they need to thrive, not just on the Olympic stage, but also in life beyond gymnastics. Mission and Values The new USA Gymnastics is a mission-driven organization the puts what is best for the athlete community at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make. We listen to our athletes and provide platforms to embrace and amplify their voices. We consistently seek ways to help our athletes grow and thrive, both on and off the field of play. This is emphasized in USAG’s new mission statement: To build a community and culture of health, safety, and excellence, where athletes can thrive in sport and in life.
