Councillor Christine Richards

I have lived in Loughor with my husband Mac for 34 years, where we raised our son, Harding. I became County Councillor for in 2008 and immediately issued a questionnaire, asking local people about their concerns. The results showed that people were concerned about the state of Parc Williams and litter and mess in Loughor. I worked with Council officers to establish Friends of Parc Williams in 2009 and have continued to support the group and serve on its committee ever since. I have also served as a Town Councillor for many years and was honoured to be Mayor of Town Council in 2013/14 I support many local groups and organisations and work to the best of my ability to represent and serve the people of my ward and the wider . I am a governor of Casllwchwr Primary, Penyrheol Comprehensive schools and Gower College. I am currently Deputy Leader of City & County of and Cabinet Member for children’s services. I firmly believe in the UN convention on the rights of children and that all children have the right to be become the best they can be. I recently became a trustee of Loughor Town Trust and look forward to improving the Old Town Hall and restoring a much-loved community resource for Loughor

My name is Kelly Roberts and I was honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the residents of lower Loughor as a Community Councillor in 2015. I have always had an interest in public service. I worked at the DVLA for twelve years and after completing a Degree and Masters in Social Policy and Politics I became a Public Policy lecturer at Swansea University. I am now completing a PhD that will analyse the Concessionary Bus Pass and it's links to health and well-being for older people. This public policy knowledge will serve me well in this position. I was born in Loughor, attending Casllwchwr Primary School then Penyrheol Comprehensive School (as did my husband), and I am proud that my two children are doing the same. I think I will make a good Community Councillor here in Loughor because I understand the areas needs and wants. My main aims are very simple: to help keep Loughor a safe place for our children to play in, to help keep it clean and free from unwanted mess, and above all, to ensure that our great community is always served as it should be.
