A. Overview: This recommendation is for the renewal of licensed athletic trainer services for school sports throughout Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS).
1. Other Facts:
• The renewal term will be effective from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, with no further renewal options remaining.
• Approximately $135,000 was spent in FY17.
• This contract provides nine FCPS high schools with a certified athletic trainer for approximately 25 hours per week. Currently, Frederick High School (FHS) has a teacher on staff that is a certified athletic trainer and provides these services to that school for an additional stipend. Also, this contract provides substitute services to FHS, if needed.
• No price increase was requested.
• The contract will be administered by Kevin Kendro, Supervisor, Athletics and Extra Curricular Activities, School Administration and Leadership.
2. Source of Funding: Contingent upon Board approval of FY18 Approved Operating Budget.
B. Recommendation: Staff recommends renewal of RFP 13MISC8, Athletic Trainer Services, to Pivot Physical Therapy of Maryland, of Westminster, MD, per the attached Summary of Renewal.
