Dear Keith

Our Ref: BHV letter to Keith Vaz Re Policy and position of Labour Party on India

Thank you for your very clear views that in your opinion, the Government of Abu Dhabi (UAE) does not need any advice from British MPs. UAE has gone ahead and given PM Mr Narendra. Modi their highest civilian order. So perhaps Naz Shah, and as she is Shadow Minister of Women and Equalities, may not only have made a fool of herself, but the Labour Party too. A sorry state of affairs brought about by blind rage and perhaps a failure to see political wood for trees.

As you know, a number of very senior Labour MPs, majority from British Pakistani or British Kashmiri Origin, wrote to the British PM on India’s decision on Article 370 and 35A regarding Kashmir. The three of them, and there may be more, are members of the labour’s Shadow Cabinet and hence their views do carry weight. The ones I am referring to are: Naz Shah shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, Imran Hussain Shadow Minister for Justice and Khalid Mahmood Shadow Minister for Europe.

In view of the above, as you are also on Labour’s NEC, could you please enlighten us on what is labour Party’s policy on India’s decision to abrogate article 370 and 35A?

You may be aware that a large number of British Indians and especially British Hindus feel that the Labour Party’s policies or if there is no policy, the views expressed by its leadership which includes Jeremy Corbyn and at least the three shadow Ministers mentioned above are worryingly hostile towards India . There is also a strong opinion that the Labour Party is pandering to pro Pakistani, pro

Kashmiri vote lobby at the expense of ignoring the interests and the views of not only the British Indian diaspora but also British interests with India. This may be wrong but that is the perception created by the hateful and venom filled comments and statements made by some of Labour’s leaders.

So, any clarification or information you can give via spelling out Labour’s policy on Kashmir --e.g. does Labour accept that Kashmir is an integral part of India and the matter should be resolved through bilateral dialogue--to dispel this perception would be most helpful.

If you are unbale to give a categorical confirmation on Labour’s policy, could you guide us, give us a name and contact details, of who would be able to clear the air on this matter please?

Finally, I am hearing rumours that Leicester Council’s ruling Labour Group may discuss this matter of India and Kashmir either in their Labour Group meeting and/or the Council chamber. I hope this does not happen, but if it does, it would be very interesting to see how Councillors from Leicester East will respond and participate as so far none of them have come out openly making public statements to express their views. This is in sharp contrast to what, I am being told, Labour councillors and MPs from Pakistani and Kashmiri origin, mainly from the Northern Cities seem to be saying on this matter.

Best wishes

Dear Mukesh

Thank you for your email which I have read carefully.

I don’t believe the Government of Abu Dubai needs any advice from British MPs on this matter.

Best wishes

Dear The Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz MP

Re Naz Shah MP & Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities letter regarding India

I am writing to you on behalf of the British Hindu voice regarding the attached letter sent by Naz shah MP Bradford West.

We note that she has signed off the letter as labour’s shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

The tone of MP’s letter is hateful and full of venom. The use of the words ‘Butcher of Gujarat’ for Mr Modi when the Indian Supreme Court concluded that he was not involved and he has no case to answer indicates this MP’s faulty and vindictive thought processes.

My purpose in writing to you is seek your views on whether or not you support Naz Shah’s request to the Government of Abu Dhabi not to give PM Modi the ’Order of Zayed’ , the Kingdom’s highest Civilian Award.

It would also be helpful to know that since she has signed of the letter as Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, are her views that of the Labour Party or personal?

Naz has written to the Abu Dhabi Government stating she was writing because she represent thousands of British Kashmiris and also as a British Kashmiri herself.

Keith, as you represent a constituency which has thousands of British Indians and you yourself are a British Indian, would you please consider writing to the Abu Dhabi Government expressing your support for giving the ‘Order of Zayed’ to Pm Modi

I look forward to receiving your response.
