The Tomb Matthew 28

The Word of God calls the Christ, the chosen one who chooses us to join Him in life beyond the grave. This week, we'll see Jesus' resurrection completely change what we believe, how we feel, and why we live.

1 Corinthians 15:14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is futile and your faith is empty. Matthew 28:1-6 Now after the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. Suddenly there was a severe earthquake, for an of the Lord descending from heaven came and rolled away the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come and see the place where he was lying. John 10:17-18 This is why the Father loves me—because I lay down my life, so that I may take it back again. No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it back again… Matthew 28:7-8 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead. He is going ahead of you into . You will see him there.’ Listen, I have told you!” So they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians. 1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the Christ from the dead, that is, into an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven for you, who by God’s power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Matthew 28:9-10 But Jesus met them, saying, “Greetings!” They came to him, held on to his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.” :4 Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.
