PARISH NOTICES

Service at Home reflection sheets are still being sent out because we know that a lot of people don’t yet feel safe in an environment with many other people. That is fine. There is no obligation to attend church in person until you feel safe. If you are on the mailing list for Sunday Service sheets, please print off and bring your own copy of the Readings sheet with you to services both at St Michael’s and the other churches in the United Benefice. Please remember that St Michael’s is still open every Sunday and Wednesday between 2 pm and 4.30 pm for individual prayer. Churchyard working parties are normally scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. We meet at 6 pm and carry on for a couple of hours – weather permitting! All welcome. The next session will be on August 24th. Food Bank. Please do remember the Food Banks. They are needed now more than ever. If you wish to donate directly to Foodbank at Rugeley Community Centre the Centre is now only open for foodbank sessions i.e. 2.00 pm-4.00 pm Tuesdays and Fridays. Alternatively, the Rugeley Food Bank welcomes financial contributions – see https://rugeley.foodbank.org.uk Gifts can also be brought to church when there is a service or left in the porch at 17, Road, Hamstall Ridware WS15 3QG. All gifts welcome and will be taken to the Rugeley Foodbank each Tuesday. Forthcoming Events are on page 3!

PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS:

Those who are sick: Mary Mycock, Barbara Smith, Kathleen Leawood, Brenda, Angela Perkin, Doug, David and Barbara Rudge, May Windley, Dorothy and Pam Payne. Those who live and work in the Nursing, Care and Retirement homes in the villages both in and near the parishes of the United Benefice. For everyone on holiday at this time that they may enjoy rest and relaxation in these difficult times For all school students at this time of news about their exam results For the people of Afghanistan suffering violence from the Taliban All areas of the world suffering from extreme flooding or out of control forest fires and for the emergency organisations working to bring aid and relief. For all those involved in and affected by the shooting incident in Plymouth on Friday and particularly the families of those who died.

******************* From the Lichfield Diocese Prayer Diary:

In its prayer tour of the Diocese the compilers of the Prayer Diary are concentrating on the different Deaneries as they face the challenges of resources highlighted by Shaping for Mission and other aspects of life which affect them in particular. This week the focus is on the Edgmond and Shifnal Deanery, for Rural Dean, Matthew Lefroy and the Ellesmere Deanery; for Rural Dean Linda Cox. Saturday 21st: God of the wide-open skies, the beauty of the landscape, the mystery of life, bless us with wonder at your generous provision. / Jesus who fed the multitude, feeding all in the feast of heaven on earth, bless us now as we welcome all in your name. / Spirit who draws us into new patterns of belonging and community, gathering the fragments of our lives, healing our brokenness, bless us now and gather us into the family of God’s people. (Preb Chris Thorpe; 2020).

******************* Intercessions at services at St Michaels For some years a member of the congregation has led this part of the services. Recently Chris Smart has undertaken the lion’s share of this important part of the worship for which we all remain extremely grateful. However, should someone else wish to do this, please do not be shy – if you are daunted by the thought of composing the intercessions, then you could always start by reading those which appear on the weekly Worship at Home sheet before doing it yourself. If you need any help or encouragement please contact the churchwardens or either the Rev’ds Jeremy or Deborah.

******************* Rev’d Jeremy has received the following invitation and has asked that each church respond individually: Council and Lichfield Cathedral are organising a community based Remembrance and Recovery Service on Sunday 26 September 2021 at 3pm at Lichfield Cathedral. This is a multi-faith event and for those with no faith and the purpose is fourfold: • To remember those residents of Lichfield District who have died from Covid19. • To recognise the role and contribution of public services in during the pandemic. • To recognise the contribution of businesses, voluntary sector, charities, faith and community groups during the pandemic. • To look forward positively to a strong recovery in the post Covid19 period. Representatives from the public sector, businesses, voluntary sector, charitable sector and community groups as well as members of the public who have been bereaved will be present. There is a fixed capacity of 300 for this event and 1m distancing will be in place and you will be asked to wear a face mask throughout the service.
