Leicester Tigers Developing Player Programme (DPP)

Re: Current U13 & Yr 8 players

Dear Coach / Teacher / Manager,

You may have heard about the restructure of the Tigers Player Performance Pathway, this season is the first time all the stakeholders have agreed on a single pathway pre 16 and have engaged in regional solutions for the benefit of young players. The Developing Player Programme (DPP) is an amalgamation of what was EPDG & SoR and is delivered by Leicester Tigers DPP coaching staff.

We aim to;

“Provide high quality player development experiences, encouraging lifelong participation in the game and enabling those with potential to be clearly identified and supported.”

The reason we are contacting you is that we are looking for current (Season 2013/14) U13’s & Year 8 players who will form the basis for our U14 squads next season. We will be running trials in late January / early February 2014 at our DPP centres around our region.

Do you have the next , or in your squads? We are looking for players of above average standards in their core skills of catch & pass, tackle technique, breakdown and game sense or with outstanding physical qualities.

We do not have a limit on the number of recommendations by any one school or club but do ask that you are considerate to the players you are nominating and realistic about the number of nominations.

Nominations will initially be controlled centrally & need to be sent to Matt Williams ([email protected]) including the following information: Name, DPP Centre chosen to attend, DoB, Position, Contact email address, School and Rugby club currently attending. Formal invites to trial will be sent once all the data is collated.

We run 8 regional centres, players can attend the centre that is easiest for them to commute to, details can be seen below
