It’s the fifth time this season, and the third straight game, Ole Miss has tallied 550 total yards of more. • The Rebels held a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, outsourcing opponents 49-7 in the opening quarter over the last three games. • Matt Corral completed 24 passes for 385 yards and two touchdowns ... It was his sixth 300-yard game of the season, the third-best single season effort in school history. • Corral set a new record for most passing yards by an Ole Miss QB in an Egg Bowl ... Previous record was 334 by Mark Young in the 1988 Egg Bowl. • Corral moved to into sole possession of fifth place on Ole Miss’ single season record charts with 24 passing TDs on the season ... DEFENSIVE NOTES • The Rebel defense held Mississippi State to just 39 yards rushing, their best run defense effort since limiting Texas A&M to zero yards against Tennessee (Oct. 18, 2014) • The Ole Miss defense forced back-to-back three-and-outs to start the game for the first time this season. • The Rebel defense has now forced a turnover in seven of their eight games this season. • Deane Leonard picked recovered a fumble during the first quarter and returned it 84 yards ... It was the fourth longest fumble return in school history and the longest since the school record 96-yard return by Zedrick Woods at Texas A&M in 2018. • Tylan Knight forced his second career fumble at the goal line. • Lakia Henry led the Ole Miss defense with 10 total tackles, his second straight game with double-digit tackles. • Playing in his first game in a Rebel uniform, Otis Reese tallied eight total tackles and a pass breakup.
