DearEarlyCollege family,

Please read, sign, provide the information below, and return by Friday August 26, 2011.

Office Hours is a 45 minute ACADEMIC period built into our day. It is designed so that students have an opportunity to see each teacher at least once for tutorial during the week. It is to be used to the students advantage. Students may go see another teacher during office hours, other than the assigned teacher for the day, providing that they have a pass from that teacher and are in good academic standing in the class they wish to leave.

Recommended activities for Spanish office hours:

  • finish homework
  • one on one tutorial
  • study/make flashcards of Spanish vocabulary
  • Color Verb Wall packets
  • Work on assignments or study for another class
  • Read a book

Unless a student has a 100 in all classes, there is ALWAYS something to do academically.

Parents, please be informed that you may view all of your student’s grades 24/7 thru the Parent Access program online. You will need to come into the front office and show a picture ID to obtain your login and password. All parents are strongly encouraged to view your students’ grades frequently so that we together can help keep your student on track to succeed.Parent Access has a feature that automatically emails weekly progress reports to the parent’s email of choice.

Our goal at SavannahEarlyCollege is not only for our students to graduate high school but to graduate with transferable college credit. The eligibility requirements to take classes at the college level consist of students maintaining at least a 75 in all classes, passing the Reading, Writing, and Math portions of the COMPASS test, and displaying an appropriate level of maturity thatdemonstrates the ability to be successful on the SSU campus.

Progress reports are sent home every two weeks from every teacher. If at anytime your student falls below a 76 in any class, they will be placed on mandatory tutorial and will be required to stay for two documented tutorials or a Saturday school per week.

Here is my email address and the school number. Please feel free to contact me about any concern you may have about your student in Spanish class. 912-395-2535.

Thank you

Shanda Padilla
