Dear Lake Shore Community

Dear Lake Shore Community,

Happy 2017! We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday break!

Have you ever thought about what happens to the middle child? In elementary we are so excited for our little ones to start school, try to be an involved parent, want to keep that connection, get to know their friends and other parents! In high school we get a reality check that our child is soon going to flying the nest and we jump in to be involved again as this is an exciting time! However, what about those middle school years? These are difficult years for our kids, they don’t want us involved, communication is reduced, we get busy, we take a break because we are spent from the elementary years of volunteering, parties, carnivals, fundraisers, dine out nights!

The fact of the matter is our middle school kids need you! They still need you to help by donating money to the RAIDER FUND so that they can continue traditions of carnival, ski trips, graduation, field trips, purchasing mac books, supporting teachers classrooms! They need you to volunteer your time so you can get to know their friends (both new and old), develop relationships with their teachers, be the support they need, but don’t want:)

We are currently looking to increase our RAIDER FUND and actively looking for committee chairs to take over for those who have given their time and service and are now moving on! Please visit our webpage lakeshoremiddleschool.org for a list of committees and consider volunteering to join next year. Many of these committees are self run, but need a main contact person to oversee and delegate.

Updates-

All school art project- We are in the process of working with an artist-in-residence to complete an art project that will convey the message of LakeShore for our lobby! All students will have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful piece of art!

Our next PTO meeting on Wed. January 11, at 9:15am in the band room. Please try to attend as we get an update from Ms. Jones, vote on grants and budget issues, and discuss ideas pertaining to Lake Shore! See you then!
