Dear Parents:

Now that the new school year is underway, I would like to introduce myself. I am David Moore, the German teacher at Conneaut Area Senior High School. For twelve years, we have run a successful German Club which has taken numerous field trips to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Niagara Falls, NY. We have also hosted the annual Christmas dinner for those in need in our local community. After the school consolidation, we have given Christmas gifts to the children in the pre-K class. This year is looking to be an even better year than ever before.

On Friday, September 29, we will be hosting the Fourth Annual Suppe Bowl Contest at the CASH Cafeteria. Soup makers are encouraged to bring a pot of their finest soup creations to the cafeteria between 4 and 5 PM the evening of our home football game against General McLane High School. Between 5:30 and 7 PM, come sample the varieties of soup, before attending the game. This year’s top prize for the contest is $50; second prize is $25.

We are in the midst of planning field trips for students this year. Our first field trip, a class trip to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, will leave CASH at 3 AM on Tuesday, October 10. We are still in need of parent chaperons for this trip on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to join us, please return a note to my attention along with your son or daughter. Also, state law requires that all chaperons have their clearances on file with the school district main office. An itinerary for the trip is posted on My Big Campus.

We are considering a spring time field trip. In previous years, we have visited the Cleveland Museum of Art, Niagara Falls and the Robert Jackson Center in Jamestown, NY, and ridden the Gateway Clipper in Pittsburgh. When the end of year trip or activity is determined, details will be posted on www.cashgerman.com. To assist with all the costs for our end of year activity, we will be asking for $10 in dues from all of our new members. Students who paid in previous years will not owe dues this year.

As information about our trip and other events becomes available, I will share details in future letters. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at .

Kindest regards,

David E. Moore
