CRESWELL : ANNUAL PARISH MEETING 2014

Chairman’s Report

To begin may I, on your behalf, thank my colleagues, my other fellow Councillors: - Richard, as Vice Chairman, Peter, Ray and James along with our highly proficient Clerk, Lisa. I thank them for all their efforts and support over the last 12 months - a great team.

I would also like to thank our Borough Councillor, Ray Sutherland in particular for his support throughout the year; noting also that of Cllr Winnington our other Borough Ward Councillor and Frank Chapman as our County Councillor.

Also, a very big thank you to all of you as residents and neighbours for all of your support and encouragement, as ever, throughout the year... your attendance at Parish Council meetings Planning events and Exhibitions continues to make a realdifference and has a positive impact.

This year, the Parish Council have worked with the County Council and other groups to ensure that the new estate being built by Taylor Wimpey will have roads wide enough to accommodate a bus route in the future. The grid at the bottom of Creswell Grove by “Hidderleys Bend” has now finally been fixed along with the various potholes as they arise and most recently a collapsed grid outside the Redhill pub no doubt caused by the lorries parking on the paths.

The issues of parking on Primepoint remain a huge issue both in the damage caused by the lorries and the impact of overnight drivers with no facilities. Our County Councillor Frank Chapman is working with us to engage both the County Council and the Borough Council and we hope to make some progress on this during the next year.

To mark the 70th Anniversary of Captain Perrin’s crash, the council were fortunate to have the event on Friday July 4th organised and paid for by Arnold Clark – for which they would like to pass on a huge thank you. To all of you who attended, I’m sure you’ll agree it was a lovely afternoon and marked the occasion fantastically.

We would like to welcome to the parish the new residents of Marston Grange, around 50 houses have now been occupied and the Parish will continue to grow by around this amount each year until all 400 houses are completed.

The Parish Council are delighted to confirm that there has been, again, a zero increase in the precept for 2015/16 and this coupled with the new housing at Marston Gate means that the precept per household will actually reduce for the year.

As you are all no doubt aware, elections for not only Parliament and the Borough Council but also our Parish will be held on May 7th. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cllr Thomas and Cllr Allsop for their contributions to the Parish Council as they have both decided that it is time to stand down from the Parish Council. Cllr Thomas has completed 30 years, 10 years of those as Chairman. Cllr Allsop has completed 14 years, with 7 of those as Chairman. You will both be missed and we thank you for all your contributions over the years.

THANK YOU.
