The European Federation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL) is hiring a Coordinatorfor Member Support and Communication for its Secretariat in Brussels.S/He will report directly to the Secretary-General.

EFIL is an international non-profit organisation based in Brussels with 30 Members including all EuropeanAFS Organisations. The members are volunteer-based educational organisationsthatoffer long- and short-term intercultural stays for young people in a worldwide network.

EFIL is a key player in Europe in the field of intercultural learning. Its main activities focus on supporting and developing its member organisations with advocacy work, sharing of know-how,organising training events, coordinating projects and programmes. Next to this, EFIL also focuses on developing AFS structures in countries where there is no current AFS presence.EFIL’s activitiesoften arefinancially supportedby the European institutions.

At the EFIL Secretariat in Brussels, a team of 6 professionals and a variable number of volunteers/interns work in a dynamic, international and multicultural environment. EFIL recognises all relevant work and education experiences, including those acquired in non-formal learning and volunteer environments. English is the language of communication at the EFIL Secretariat and within the EFIL network.

Main tasks:

  • MEMBER SUPPORT(50%)

As Coordinator for Member Support s/heis responsible for activities that help achievefurther growth, sustainability and development of the EFIL member organisations, as well as the establishment of partner organisations or representations in additional countries to enlarge the geographical scope of the Federation. This includes ongoing on-demand support, as well as setting up and conducting training activities, with focus on theoperational level of exchange programmes and basic organisational development.

  • COMMUNICATION (50%)
  • Help streamline communication with different target audiences, provide advice on communication tasks, and help build a positive reputation of EFIL, internally and externally.
  • Develop the design and content for a wide range of communication materials, incl. brochures, leaflets, reports, newsletters, presentations and videos, templates, branding materials, internal and external publications, in close cooperation with colleagues.
  • Produce content for and regularly update EFIL’s website pages and the AFS internal World Café platform, coordinate EFIL’s activities on social media(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs) and develop long- and short term social media strategies, Additionally, monitor forums, social media sites and press to assess the latest trends in AFS and in the sector overall.
  • OTHER DUTIES
  • Involvement in drafting funding proposalsto secure the financial sustainability of EFIL and its activities(Erasmus+, European Youth Foundation, etc.);
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile of the Candidate

Required:

Member support:

  • A good understanding of and experience in the sector of volunteer-based, youth-oriented non-governmental and non-profit organisations, preferably exchange focused.
  • Strong communications skills in an international setting, including online communication and ability to build relationships across the network.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills; able to convey information effectively in a coherent, courteous and tactful manner.

Communication:

  • Knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software, with design software andwebsite editing as a bonus;social mediamanagement (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
  • Broad vision of the future of communications, marketing, news and media with a strong understanding of the latest trends and technology.

General:

  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, service-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision as well as in team;passionate enthusiasm and commitment to high performance and results; high standards of accuracy, thoroughness and quality; able to meet deadlines, work efficiently and set priorities appropriately.
  • Prepared to live in Brussels or surroundings; prepared to travel regularly, including occasional week-end traveling.Must be legally eligible to work in the EU or possess a work permit in Belgium.

Desired:

  • Familiarity or a history with AFS Intercultural Programs, ideally as an active player in exchange programme management.
  • Experience in coaching for organisational development and leadership; experience in conflict management.
  • Knowledge about and experience with European programmes and funding institutions; knowledge of and interest in European youth and culture policies.

Terms of Contract

  • Location: Brussels, Belgium.
  • Duration of the contract: unlimited.
  • Working regime: full time position.
  • Gross salary: official salary scales PC 329.01-B2b based on years of working experience
