  1. Minutes
  1. Inspector Buchan – gave a report on the crimes in the area around George St.
  1. Dog Mess –We will try to get stickers put up along George St and behind Catherine St for the Dog Mess.
  1. Construction Safety – Niall from HSE had come along to give us some information on the Broadford Works and safety on the site. He informed us that they only really deal with the issues once construction has started but that they deal with problems such as mud on the roads on trucks exiting sites, and other dangerous activities. It was suggested that in the meantime as far as Broadford Works goes, it may be possible to get some posters up encouraging passers by to keep an eye on the site, and to report any problems; trespassing, vandalism, fire raising, etc, to the police or to ourselves.
  1. Lamp-post Problems–There is a lamppost out at the Northern Bar on George St and some of the new lamp-posts appearing around the area seem to be in quite a dangerous position, we will see what we can find out.
  1. Park Walk Round (Gallowgate) –After the walk round in September steps are still being taken to check whether the roof of the car park, on West North St, would provide a strong enough base for a play area for the residents in the high rise flats on top of the hill. There is room there and with a fence around the area it may make a good spot for a play area for older children. It was agreed that some of the Community Council funds can go towards this venture, further details to be worked out. It was also mentioned that there is a Youth Club with snooker, pool and football at Gerrard StChurch. Charlie will mention the Club at the Gallowgate Residents meeting.
  1. Planning Application on John St – We will put in a representation concerning the application to build 50 flats on the site of the Ambassador Club on John St and surrounding area. We will mention the need for the safe removal of any asbestos on the site, the lack of parking spaces (60 spaces for 50 flats, should be 75), the lack of leisure space in the development, the desire to keep some retail facilities and youth facilities on the site and the problems with the increase in traffic around the site. There is also a problem with pedestrians crossing on the corner which will be mentioned.
  1. Pub Deliveries – It has been noticed that deliveries made to the pub on the corner of George St and Maberly St can seriously disrupt the traffic, if the delivery takes place during rush hours. The garage just along the street also causes similar problems. Lin will find the address of Belhaven Breweries and the garage, and we will see if anything can be done.
