JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Supervisor Adult Education (Health Occupations) – Supervisor A-260

JOB STATUS: Administrator, FLSA Exempt

REPORTS TO: Supervisor C, Adult Education

DEPARTMENT: Adult & Community Education

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises the delivery of instruction to adult students participating in the district’s Health Occupations Program ensuring learning experiences consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals of the program and district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·  Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff. Duties include hiring, training, counseling, and evaluating staff performance.

·  Provides direction and oversight in the successful development and delivery of the district’s LPN/Nurse Aide Program.

·  Supervises the delivery of health occupations instruction ensuring learning experiences consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals of the program and district.

·  Provides orientation assistance and guidance to staff who are engaged in student instruction.

·  Assumes responsibility for the development, evaluation, improvement and implementation of program curriculum and instructional materials.

·  Monitors student achievement and progress toward instructional goals; initiates corrective action as necessary.

·  Assumes responsibility for planning, coordinating and executing new student enrollment, orientation at the beginning of each program offering.

·  Works cooperatively with advisory committees to provide department and program guidance.

·  Administers assigned budget(s); ensures expenditures are within the approved budget(s).

·  Manages the reporting, storage, and submission of student, program, and department data.

·  Monitors program compliance with related Federal, state, and district requirements; initiates corrective action as needed.

·  Ensures that all programs and services reflect multicultural awareness and acceptance of diversity.

·  Prepares required documentation and reports.

·  Plans and conducts training and inservices for program staff.

·  Maintains current knowledge of best practices, trends and new developments in instruction. Recommends and implements changes to programs and services as necessary.

·  Provides printed communications and holds faculty meetings within areas of responsibility.

·  Maintain communications with central administration and other units of the controlling agency, faculty, students, clinical agencies, and the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN).

·  Certifying to the OBN, in a format prescribed by OBN for each student who is an applicant for licensure in Ohio that each applicant successfully completed the requirements of a program and the date the applicant completed the program requirements.

·  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Master’s in nursing or other field

·  At least five years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse, including two years as a faculty member in a registered or practical nursing education program.

·  Current State of Ohio licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.

·  Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned functions.

·  Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents and the general public.

·  Required to have effective verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.

·  Demonstrated ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner.

·  Written and computer skills necessary to maintain various departmental records, documents and reports.

·  Ability to resolve problems, situations and issues in a collaborative, tactful and respectful manner.

·  Analytical ability to develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns in a timely manner.

·  Skills necessary to provide guidance, train, and review the work of assigned staff.

·  Mathematical aptitude necessary to administer assigned budget(s) and monitor expenditures.
