Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst

JOB PURPOSE

To support the provision of a robust and innovative performance data and analysis service so the organisation can take an intelligence and risk based approach in the development and delivery of its services.

To support the provision and promotion of performance management information across all areas of the Service, including analysing trends and producing reports and presentations in line with the requirements of differing internal and external audiences.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Develop and maintain the GIS, risk profiling, emergency cover and associated modelling programmes to ensure the availability of accurate and robust outputs.

2.  Provide comprehensive risk analysis and profiles and support the interpretation and presentation of the intelligence to ensure key findings are relevant, insightful and highlight opportunities for action. To provide local profiles in support of the development of unitary plans.

3.  Support the delivery of an annual intelligence plan and respond to ad hoc requests from across the organisation by providing accurate and timely reports using tools, techniques and presentations appropriate to the audience.

4.  Update corporate performance information systems and monitor and test their effectiveness to ensure that the data available is timely, accurate, of a high quality, and accessible to users.

5.  Liaise with internal departments to produce timely, accurate and well presented risk based intelligence information and performance data, identifying patterns, relationships, influences and trends including projections of likely future outcomes to assist departments in making evidence-based and intelligence led conclusions.

6.  Assist in the maintenance of key performance indicators and analysis of performance against key indicators and associated targets as well as trend analysis and highlighting of specific issues.

7.  Support the provision of a range of timely, accurate and well presented performance information and reports to the Fire Authority to ensure senior managers have a holistic understanding of organisational performance, to enable robust decision making and to inform planning processes.

8.  Support the preparation and distribution of reports for the Performance Management Group to agreed standards and timescales to facilitate the scrutiny of organisational performance.

9.  Set up and maintain regular reports at Unitary Area Level and sub-area level as required to provide relevant performance information and analysis for Local Strategic Partnerships and associated thematic groups to inform the performance agenda and work with managers to improve the accessibility and usability of performance information..

10. Monitor, analyse and benchmark the performance of CFRS in relation to relevant Fire & Rescue Fire Services and other relevant data, supporting data exchange with other organisations as required. To work with the Corporate Business Intelligence Manager on the development of improvement targets.

11. Support the completion of relevant returns to outside bodies and ensure that such returns are completed in accordance with guidance notes, timetables and legal requirements.
