CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

The time has indeed come for all Malaysian Indians to be united again and to make sure the Indian Community is heading the success path.

The MIC has been the voice speaking representation for all the Indians in M’sia and time is crucial now for us to decide our faith.

As all of us are aware that Dato Subramaniam is contesting for Deputy President Post in MIC, much of his contributions and public services to the Indian community has been denied or not highlighted especially to the delegates and younger generations to be known and appreciated.

EARLY DAYS OF MIC

  1. Dato Subra completed his B.A degree from U.Malaya, studied Tamil at Degree level in U.Malaya and obtain his Masters from U.Malaya whereby Dato wrote a thesis titled Politics of M’sian Indians 1948-1957. This clearly shows Dato is a qualified politician and has the skill to serve the Indians in the political arena.
  1. Dato was handpicked and appointed as an Executive Secretary by MIC President Tun Sambanthan and Tan Sri Manickavasagam. Later appointed as the Secretary General of MIC in 1973 by Tan Sri Manickavasagam. Again Elected as the first Vice President with highest votes at the party elections in 1979. Finally served as Deputy President of MIC from 1981 to 2006. We can see the talent of Dato which has been discovered by the 2 great leaders.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PARTY

  1. Dato Subra and Dato Pathma are the 2 great Architects who draft and prepared the project paper for the setting up of MIED. Helped in the sale of MIED lottery tickets by going door to door Indian business shops around K.Lumpur.Today thru MIED thousands of students have benefited in securing loans and education qualification thru Tafe & AIMST University.
  1. Raised funds to purchase a 4 ½ storey building for the State congress during as State Chairman of MIC Kuala Lumpur. ( Ibu Pej. MIC K.Lumpur )
  1. Dato Subra is the President of NESA Cooperative one of the very first Indians Investment Arm where Dato has organized RM 500,000 as an investment into Maika Holdings Berhad. Besides Dato Subra helped Dato Samy to raise several million ringgit thru friends and well wishes for the Investment in Maika Holdings.
  1. Raised RM 1,600,000 and handed over the sum to Dato Seri Samy for the AIMST University Project. TodayAIMSTUniversity has been a centre of higher education for both local and overseas students. Can anyone deny that Dato Subramaniam has not contributed anything into the AIMST Uni. Project?

ACHIEVEMENTS AS MP & DEP. MINISTER

  1. 30% Indians staying in Bukit Bangsar Sri Pahang Flats are those people shifted from squatter areas to be resettled. This was initiated by Dato in helping the Indian community living in K.Lumpur to secure better housing. Dato obtained 30% allocation of public housing to be given to Indians when he was the MP for Damansara.
  1. Dato successfully obtained a Grant of RM 5.2 million from the government to build a overhead bridge in Segamat.
  1. Dato helped to raise allocation of RM 100,000 for the reconstruction of segamat Ceylonese Indian Association.
  1. Took initiative for setting up Bank Pertanian in CameronHighlands for the benefit and to help the Indian farmers get financial assistance.
  1. Dato proposed to the then Minister of F.Territory Dato Sharir Samad to rename Brickfields road to Jalan Tun Sambanthan as we can see now.

SERVICE TO TAMIL LANGUAGE

  1. Contribution for the benefit and betterment of Tamil schools in Malaysia has its remarkable history. Dato Subra secured a piece of land worth more than RM 3 million for the Segambut Tamil school and raised RM 200,000 for the construction of the school. Dato Subra is a Tamil educated graduate whom has interest and love for the language. Dato has obtained many Grants from government for building numerous schools all over the country. Dato Subra has initiated an Education Project known as “Kalvi Chudar” jointly by Dr. Rama Subbiah Schorlarship Fund and Makkal Osai to help the UPSR students in tamil school. Articles and worksheets published and distributed free of charge together with the Makkal Osai Paper to 17,000 students in 523 Tamil Schools on a weekly basis.
  1. Dato has helped Kelab Bell Belia Tamil all over the country where our 1st National Bell Club President S.A Anbananthan has rewarded Dato for his service to public with the title “Makkal Thalaivar”. Dato’s participation in Tamil language, literature, culture and Tamil publishing is a great achievement.
  1. Many Indians are not aware there’s a private Tamil Library in Sentul with the capacity of 25,000 books. Dato Subra is the trustee of Muthamizh Padippagam. Dato has helped in getting the Grant from Dato Bandar of K.Lumpur twice in 1988 and 2002 for RM 25,000 and RM 30,000 to upgrade the facility. The Library is doing very well and is in full usage. Lately Dato suggest on obtaining RM 100,000 Grant for further expanding of the library.
  1. Dato has also contributed to the Indian sports associations in M’sia. This will lead our Indian Youths to engage themselves in healthy activity and to be good citizens.

AS PRESIDENT OF NESA

  1. Dato has directed NESA for the past 20 years to an excellent heights.

-23,000 members with an Asset value RM 30 million

-35 NESA Taxis - giving a rice bowl income to 35 Families

-House ownership schemes – 1500 houses built all over the country

-Strategic Investment profitable companies - MCIS Zurich RM 3.5 million

-Education Fund RM 1.5 million for the benefit of the members children and to reward the excellent students of PMR,SPM & STPM

-Millions of Ringgit disbursed in loans to help its members and to buy properties

-Group Insurance scheme

-Owns strategic properties in city Centre

TEMPLE AND RELIGION

  1. A memorandum was given to the Government for approval in taking Temple priests, Melam & Nadaswaram from India was successfully approved. This has helped very much for Hindu temples.
  1. The renowned Bangsar Ramalingeswarar Temple was given a Grant RM 100,000 for the construction by the Government with the successful effort of Dato Subra.
  1. Dato is currently the Building Committee Chairman of Robson Road Mariamman Temple in K.Lumpur being erected at a cost of RM 2 million.
  1. Dato has visited a number of temples and has helped secured funds and donations to many Hindu temples thru his friends and well wishes. He has played an important role for the benefit of both the temple management and the devotees.

CONCLUSION

It is our duty to make sure the leaders of tomorrow are fully dedicated and committed for the benefit of the Indian community. The MIC election must be fair with the elements of democracy. Every Indian regardless of language and religion must join hands to support Dato Subra’s victory. Dear friends kindly tell your MIC members and the delegates you know to pass the message that voting for Dato Subra whom been blessed by all Malaysians as well as Tun Mahathir and Honorable Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak will definitely going to bring prosperity and changes in the M’sian Indian history.
