HARDCASTLE PARENTS: If you know that your child will be absent from school at some time during the day, or if they will be absent for the entire day, contact the school and inform the office. It is important for the school to know where your children are. Most often appointments are made well in advance. By keeping the office informed of these absences, we will not have to spend time interrupting classes to clear up attendance issues with the students.

The number of absences that a student has from a class will dictate whether a student will be allowed to remain in class or to take part in school extracurricular activities. For some of our High School awards and scholarships, attendance is included in the criteria for determining the award recipients.

It is important that your child is in school, and by informing the office when they will be absent you will help make our record keeping more efficient and enable us to maintain a more accurate account of our students. If you do not “call in” for your child, they will be marked absent, no matter what the reason.

If you haven’t already, please sign up for School Messenger, text “Yes” to 724665 to get all notifications from the school and/or the division.

SRC News

The SRC has had a busy month… We presented Brooklynn with a gift for being the top seller in our Dielman Catalogue campaign.

We wrapped up our Sask Football ticket sales. We made $1947.50 through this fundraiser. We presented gifts to Shane, Trayton, Evan and Miss McNie for being our top sellers.

We held our first “Taco in a Bag” lunch. This was our first attempt, so we just sold lunches to 7-12. It was a great hit, so next time we will plan K-12. Watch for notices about this.

Our Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes were collected and taken to North Battleford. We fell short of our goal of 110, but we did manage to fill 84 boxes. A huge thank you to Ian McDonald of Northern Edge Tire, for covering the shipping costs for us, which was $10.00/box. Wow!! That’s a huge donation! Because we hit our half way target of 55, the SRC held another popcorn day.

Our next Spirit Day is Thursday, November 30th. This will be House Dressing, which in our case is Blue Day.

We are still taking names for tables for the Cozy Christmas Trade and Craft show. Please contact the school if you are interested in booking a table. Keep your calendars open so you can attend this great, FREE event. It’s on Monday, December 4th at 7:00pm.

The SRC will be selling candygrams from from Friday, December 1st to Monday, December 11th. This is totally voluntary. Not all students are expected to participate. The cost of each candygram is $0.25. Elementary students will be given the sheets of candygrams to fill in at home if they choose to. They then return the filled candygrams to their teacher with the payment for however many they filled in. Students can purchase candygrams for any student Box 370 Edam, SK S0M 0V0 P: 306-397-2944, F: 306-397-2313, E: [email protected] or staff members in the school, not just their own class. The SRC members will attach their notes to the candycanes and distribute during the last week of school.

The WE DAY Committee will be holding a Christmas Food Drive again this year. We are hoping to collect 200 non-perishable food items (one item from every teacher and student in the school). All donations will stay right here in our community and will be distributed to families in need through our local churches. Items can be brought to the school from now until December 22nd. Please help us reach our goal of 200 items and help us make everyone’s Christmas merry! We will also be accepting non- perishable food items at our Christmas Concert on December 21st in lieu of admission.

Senior Boys Volleyball

This year’s Senior Boys Volleyball team consisted of the following gentlemen:

Gr.12 Gr.11 Blake Blais Ryan Bec Andrew Seipp Brady Deobald Anthony Seipp Hunter Goodall Isaiah Morin

The boys had a very successful season this year. They attended six tournaments where they always finished top of the pack. They won four tournaments and finished second in the others. Due to the number of Gr. 10-12 males registered at HHS this year, the team was placed in the SHSAA 1A division (<20 males). The boys hosted 1A conferences where they easily finished gold and therefore allowed them to advance to Regionals in Medstead. The boys once again captured gold and this advanced to the SHSAA Provincial playdowns which were held in Rouleau this past weekend.

1A Provincials consisted of the top 10 teams in the province. The boys were placed into a pool of 5 teams and played a round robin format where they went undefeated. This placed them first in their pool and required them to crossover and play the home town favorite and eventually gold medal winners, Rouleau, from the other pool. The boys battled hard but were narrowly defeated therefore ended their season.

The boys committed a great deal of time to the program this year and although we were cut short of the provincial medals, I couldn’t be more proud of them. Time well spent with a great group of gentlemen.
