To compare and contrast behaviour management strategies based on behaviourism and humanism

Learning Outcomes (by the end of the session students will be able to):

  • Evaluate a range of classroom management strategies based on the behaviourist approach
  • Have an introductory understanding of Non-Violent Communication (NVC)
  • Have taken part in an NVC role-play
  • To have considered the strengths and weaknesses of such an approach

A strong group – only 8 now left – split between Cert Ed and PGCE –have to balance needs of these two groups – careful splitting for group work – plenty of extension activities for PGCE
