What’s Happening in Class:

·  Reading- Students will be locating facts, determining the main idea, making inferences, and interpreting information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively and explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text.

·  Math- 4th grade students will be dividing multi-digit numbers. Students will have a timed test Thursday over multiplying by 12. Please be sure your child studies all their multiplication facts.

·  Science- Lesson 3 “How Does Matter Flow in Ecosystems?” The students will gain a better understanding of patterns of interdependency in ecological systems. Conservation Posters are due November 27th. The posters are worth 100 bonus points.

·  Social Studies- We are continuing Unit 2 “Europeans Settle Kentucky.” Students will create a timeline of important events in Kentucky’s history, from early exploration to statehood (1700 – 1800’s). Last week the students enjoyed a visit from “Daniel Boone” (Mr. Petett) describing what life was like on the Kentucky frontier.

·  Language Arts- We will be spelling words with long vowels (a,i, and o). We will be writing haunted real estate ads and practicing correct use of commas!

Important Information:

·  Red Ribbon Week is this week. Be sure your child participates in our daily activities! Thursday – camo/green day, Friday – Purple/gold day.

·  October 24th and 25th students will be walking to the Rescue Squad. Please make sure to sign and return your child’s permission slip. They must have these turned in to be able to participate!

·  October 26th – CES Practical Living/Career Studies Day (all day)

·  October 31st - Pink Out Day

·  Our Halloween Party will be on Wednesday, October 31st.
