Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching

Every nurse remembers one special clinical nurse teacher.

Preceptors and other clinically-based educators are the hidden jewels of health care……..quietly bridging the gap between education and service, and touching countless nurses in meaningful and lasting ways.

The Office of Nursing Workforce will honor five extraordinary clinical nurses who have had a special impact on the development of another nurse. Please help us select these deserving professionals.

Who is eligible for this Award?

Registered nurses who are employed by a health care facility, Vermont residents, and responsible for teaching and/or precepting novices. Recognition of new talent is encouraged!

What is the Award?

Five finalists will receive a full-day of pampering at the Stoweflake Spa in Stowe and be honored at the Vermont Nursing Summit February 23-24, 2006 in Stowe.

How do I nominate a clinical teacher for this award?

Nomination forms are available from or the Office of Nursing Workforce (address below). Three questions are asked:

1. How does the nominee demonstrate excellence in their role as clinical teacher?

2. How does the nominee foster passion for the art/science of nursing?

3. How does the nominee utilize research in practice?

Nominations may come from individuals or organizations (with contact person).
