Ap Biology Summer Assignment s5

AP BIOLOGY SUMMER ASSIGNMENT

Welcome to EDHS Advanced Placement Biology! The attached summer assignment is required for all AP Biology students for the 2013-2014 school year. The assignment consists of two parts – a graphing and data analysis exercise and an overview of the first unit (Biochemistry) that we will cover. Both must be neatly handwritten. The assignments are due on the first day of school.

Graphing and Data Analysis. You will answer a series of questions based upon provided data that you will analyze. Please click on the following link (www.edhsgreensea.net) to download the pdf file and answer the questions that I have provided for you.

Biochemistry. Answer the bold Student Objective questions located on the Biochemistry sheet. This will be the first unit we cover in August. There will be a test on the material during the second week of school after we have performed a few lab exercises and reviewed the material.

The course. The text we use is Campbell Biology, 9th edition. We will complete the 13 recommended AP labs as well as many additional labs and activities. You will gain practice in writing AP essays, and in answering AP level objective questions. We also encourage application of concepts by reading and discussing current scientific articles. You may want to invest in an AP study guide such as Barron’s AP Biology, McGraw-Hill 5 Steps to a 5, or Cliffs Notes for AP Biology. These will NOT get you through the course with an A, but may help to reinforce concepts as well as providing additional review for the AP exam.

If you have questions about this assignment, you may contact me at . I check email regularly during the summer. Don’t wait until the week before school to find out what you need to do!

Have a great summer!
