A RESOLUTION honoring Randolph J. Poe upon being named 2013 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year.

WHEREAS, Randolph J. Poe has served as superintendent of Boone County Schools since 2008; and

WHEREAS, under Mr. Poe's leadership, the district has excelled in fiscal, operational, and academic performance and is recognized as a top performer in ACT scores and college and career readiness; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Poe's career has exemplified professional commitment to service of Boone County students, including as an assistant principal, principal, executive director of technology, and assistant and deputy superintendent; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Poe has demonstrated a dedication to excellence in education in obtaining a master's degree in secondary education and a rank 1 certification in administration, and he is currently completing a doctoral degree in educational leadership; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Poe serves the community in various leadership roles, including membership on the Northern Kentucky Chamber Board of Directors, Northern Kentucky Chamber Business Advocacy Group, Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission, Northern Kentucky Education Action Team, Kentucky Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, National Center for Educational Research and Technology, Local Superintendent Advisory Council for the Kentucky Commissioner of Education, and Kentucky Association of School Superintendents; and

WHEREAS, Randolph J. Poe was named the 2013 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby honor and recognize Randolph J. Poe as the 2013 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year.

Section 2. The members of the Senate tender Mr. Poe best wishes as the Commonwealth's representative for the National Superintendent of the Year Award competition.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Randolph J. Poe, Boone County Schools, 8330 U.S. 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042.
