A Feast of Songs and Words

A CONCERT FOR WINTER 2017

‘A Feast of Songs and Words’

‘One feast, one house, one mutual happiness’

The Two Gentlemen of Verona

(Act 5, Scene 4)

Thursday 07 December 2017, Shakespeare’s Globe 1.00pm

A Concert for Winter invites Southwark schools and community groups to come and perform on stage at Shakespeare’s Globe.

This year’s theme is ‘A Feast of Songs and Words'. We invite you to select/write a song or poem which celebrates the myriad cuisines we enjoy during the Winter season!

We suggest that you propose a first choice and a second choice piece to perform so that we have flexibility in putting together a varied and well-balanced programme. Please be aware that we reserve the right to make the final decision as to which of your song choices is most appropriate for our programme and that you will be accepted on the basis of this song: substitutions will not be permitted. Contributions should last no more than four minutes. The music can be classical or contemporary, international or local. Please note: it is not possible to use electric instruments or recordings on the Globe Stage. All music must be performed acoustically by your group.

The deadline for all applications is midday on Monday 18 September. Please contact Nyree Mellersh on or 020 7902 1478 if you have any questions.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Best wishes,

Globe Education
