4 th Grade Schedule
All classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Each class hour costs $500 for the school year. The two-hour Language Arts class is billed as two class hours. The following is a schedule of the 4th Grade class options:

Books ordered through Cross Creek will be available for pick up on Parent Night. We charge a shipping and handling fee, and include it in the total book cost listed in the course descriptions. If you would like to purchase books used or through a different source, please see the attached curriculum list for information. Your student may not begin classes without the required books.

4 th Grade Class Descriptions
English - Language Arts:
From the Publisher (Easy Grammar): The beginning of each class day will begin with devotions and prayer. Language Arts ( 4th grade) uses a classical approach to reading. This literature class will continue to develop reading comprehension and vocabulary skills through classic children’s literature. A study guide will be used with each literature selection.
Reading : This Grade 4 Reader from BJU Press includes engaging, grade-level stories that children will love to read. Illustrations are included to provide visual interest, and many of the stories include a moral or biblical theme. "Skill Lessons" includes notes on using various skills, such as reading encyclopedias or maps. 554 pages, softcover, with mini- glossary in the back of the book.
Fees: $10 covers copy costs for literature supplements.

Mat h:
A Beka: God's gift of math appears in nearly every aspect of our lives! Reviewing and building on mathematical concepts--- including multiplication and division by 2-digit numbers; estimation; square measurements; writing decimals as fractions; and simple geometry---this curriculum reinforces class work with real-life applications.
Science :
BJU Science Grade 4, Third Edition, presents science through bright photographs, updated text and interesting sidebars. Children will learn of creation through a biblical lens as chapters highlight interesting facts about insects & spiders, plants, electricity, light, force, space, the earth, and the human body. Quick check sections review and reinforce concepts learned, while the last page of each chapter provides key terms and concepts as well a writing exercise. Experiments, activities and projects are also included for a hands-on, interactive year of science!

Social Studies:
Gain a thorough understanding of American history with Heritage Studies. Geography, how history aligns with Bible truths, relevant world history, government, economics and culture are all presented to help students better understand the background of the United States. Through this study, students will learn to sequence events, summarize data, make predictions, identify sources of information, work with graphs and formulate opinions. Heritage Studies 4: Dawn of Opportunity examines the events from the 1700s through the 1900s, covering immigration, evangelists, inventions, Boer War, Boxer Rebellion and more.
