2014 Nebraska City Basketball Club Tournament

Dear Coaches:

Enclosed is information and a registration form for our first annual Nebraska City Basketball Club Tournament at Nebraska City High School in Nebraska City, Nebraska, which will be held on February 1, 2014.

Sites: Nebraska City High School, Nebraska City Middle School, Northside Elementary, and Hayward Elementary

Divisions:Girls: 3rd-6th

This is an open division tournament. Teams will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Once brackets are filled, no more teams will be added.

Players: Players may play on one team only. Players must compete in their grade classification, with the exception that any younger player may participate in an older division. Proof of age and grade will be required if a formal complaint is filed. The age and date of birth of each registered player is required and must be correct and current.

Registration Fee: All divisions –$80, if paid by January 15h, per team, based on a 10 player team or $90 per team if received after January 15th, 2014. Please send one check payable to Nebraska City Basketball Club. No phone commitments can be accepted. You are not in the tournament until we have your entry fee in hand.

2014 Nebraska City Basketball Club Tournament

Official Rules

  1. All team members must have matching colored and numbered jerseys.
  2. Teams must be ready to play 10 minutes before the scheduled game time, or a forfeit may result. Promptly leave the court at the conclusion of a game, so the warm-up period for the next game can begin.
  3. Each team provides their own warm-up balls. Game balls will be provided. A 27.5 or 28.5 ball will be used, depending on divisions. A five-minute warm-up will be allowed, but may vary to stay on schedule.
  4. Each team will be required to provide a scorekeeper and a person to run the clock. They should report to the scorer’s table to get a score sheet that will be turned in at the conclusion of the game.
  5. Each half will be twenty minutes. There will be a running clock that stops only on time-outs, the last minute of the 1st half, and the last minute of the game.
  6. Half time will be five minutes.
  7. Time-outs will be one minute. PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE THIS RULE. Two time-outs per game will be allowed. In case of overtime, each team will be given one additional time-out per overtime, no carryover.
  8. Overtime will be two minutes, running clock, except for the last minute. There is a maximum of two overtimes per game, the second overtime being sudden death; the first team to score wins.
  9. Teams may play any half court defense.
  10. Full court press: Teams may use a full court press until they have developed a fifteen-point lead.
  11. The three-point rule is in effect for all divisions.
  12. Substitutes must report to the scorer’s table and wait for the game official to signal entry.
  13. Coaches, players and fans must stay off the playing courts, unless they are a member of the team playing on the court at that time. This is important, especially during half time and at a game’s conclusion.
  14. Warm-up areas are limited to the courts only.
  15. No locker rooms will be available.
  16. Coaches are encouraged to play all team members, but no playing time rules are in effect.
  17. Abusive behavior on the part of coaches and/or fans towards officials or other team coaches/players will not be tolerated. If, in the opinion of tournament officials, such behavior is happening, those individuals will be asked to stop the behavior by way of a technical foul. If they do not comply, they will be asked to leave the premises.
