A SENATE RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING PARAMOUNT’S CAROWINDS THEME PARK FOR ITS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA THROUGHOUT ITS THIRTY YEAR HISTORY BY DECLARING MAY 29, 2002, “PARAMOUNT’S CAROWINDS DAY”.
Whereas, Paramount’s Carowinds theme park has been a vital part of the South Carolina tourism industry for the past thirty years and in 2002, Carowinds will entertain its forty millionth guest; and
Whereas, Carowinds has employed more than 80,000 individuals in its threedecade history and has greatly expanded its attractions and facilities through capital improvements and additions that have exceeded one hundred eight million dollars over the past thirty years, significantly impacting tourism in South Carolina; and
Whereas, Carowinds has generously supported many causes, including the donation of more than two million dollars in admission tickets in 2001 alone, and throughout the years opening its doors and providing admission to numerous children and other guests who would not otherwise have the chance to experience such a theme park adventure; and
Whereas, Carowinds has established itself as the number one gated tourist attraction in South Carolina and the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to have the opportunity to thank Paramount’s Carowinds for being such a generous, outstanding corporate citizen. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize Paramount’s Carowinds for its many contributions to the State of South Carolina throughout its thirty year history by declaring May 29, 2002, “Paramount’s Carowinds Day”.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, the Rock Hill Sports and Tourism Commission, and each of the four Chambers of Commerce that make up the Council of Chambers of York County: the Clover Chamber of Commerce, the Greater York Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce, and the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
