5.  You may enter K, Grade 3, Grade 5, or Grade 12 for Grade level (Novice 1 or 2 years of instruction beyond 6th grade, Intermediate 3 or 4 years of instruction beyond 6th grade or Advanced 5 or 6 years beyond 6th grade are all found under 12th grade.)

6.  Click on show assessments and then click on the file to open the documents you will need.

7.  The Administrative guide was written with the information we had as late as mid-August. Since then I have become aware that tests (multiple choice items) are to be scored through the use of bubble sheets. You may choose to bypass the use of bubble sheets, however, it will be the teacher’s responsibility to enter that information into PerformancePLUS. All test data will be archived in PerformancePLUS. Constructed response items will be scored through the use of the rubrics that are provided with the Scoring Matrix. Teachers will be entering this information. For example art teachers will administer the assessment comprised of two questions- the first question- create a work of art –will be scored through the use of the rubric and recorded by the teacher. The second question- the artist statement- will be scored through the use of the rubric and recorded by the teacher as well.

8.  Music educators will administer the assessment. Multiple choice answers will be recorded on bubble sheets by students. (this does not apply to Kindergarten students where the teacher is recording all responses which is more developmentally appropriate). Constructed response questions- where the students is asked to complete a musical phrase or call and response to a stimulus- will be recorded on a device to capture a sound file and scored by the teacher against the rubric and recorded in PerformancePLUS.

9.  Growth Goals, found under the figure with the arrow, were created to inform your goal setting conference between you and your evaluating administrator. They are guidelines and have more flexibility than the assessments. Note: the sample size for Music has been changed to read minimum of 10 rather than a minimum of 100. Music, Theatre and Dance are all located under their subject area topics. Visual art is under Visual and Performing Arts.

10.  Click on your subject area. Click on download Delaware Department of Education Educator Growth Goals Documents.

11.  Your colleagues worked hard this summer to provide you with as much guidance as possible in goal setting including suggested instruction and assessments to help you identify and achieve professional goals.

12.  Two short training sessions for DPAS II Component 5 will be held on Friday, October 5th. The morning session will be held at the Collette Center in Dover and the afternoon session will be hosted at Shue Medill Middle School in Newark. Participants will receive 3 clock hours and may register in the Professional Development Management System PDMS for course # 1699- An Introduction to DPAS II Component 5.

13.  Hang in there….this has been a difficult process for all of us. Do the best you can to collect student assessment data. I will be seeking your feedback so we can refine this process before the spring administration and know that this process (though painful) is STILL better than determining your effectiveness as an arts educator through DCAS Math and Reading scores.

All the Best….
