2.4.1 Is adequate power ventilation provided in enclosed cargo spaces? (a)  (b) Is the arrangement such as to provide at least 6 air changes per hour in the cargo space based on the empty cargo space? 

(c) Are arrangements such as to enable the removal of vapors from the upper or lower parts of the cargo space as appropriate? 

B SURVEY REQUIREMENTS

GBS-CHECKLIST-DCDG-FR-DOC REV. 01 20-02-2013 PAGE 2/5 (d) For dangerous goods carried only in closed freight containers, are at least two air changes per hour provided? This paragraph is only applicable to purpose-built container ships and  cargo spaces intended for the carriage of dangerous goods in freight containers and portable tanks. For the purpose of this requirement a portable tank is a closed freight container.

2.4.2 Are the ventilation fans such as to avoid the possibility of ignition of flammable gas air (a) mixtures?  (b) Are the electric motors and associated electrical installation of a certified safe type?  (c) Is wire mesh guards (protection screens of not more than 13 mm square mesh) fitted over inlet and outlet ventilation openings? 

2.4.3 For enclosed cargo spaces intended for the carriage of solid dangerous goods in bulk, is natural ventilation provided where there is no provision for mechanical ventilation? 

2.5 Bilge pumping (Ch II-2/54.2.5)
