Role Title: Senior Scientist - Reproductive

Reports To: Reproductive Biology Director

Overall Job Purpose: Our mission as a global animal livestock genetics leader is to be an innovative and preferred partner in emerging livestock focusing on animal health and welfare that provides benefits to farmers, consumers and the environment. We are recruiting a Senior Scientist position, with the key function of identification, development, and coordination of research projects that lead to innovative, cutting edge embryo and stem cell that will ultimately advance livestock genetic improvement. This position is expected to work with other Scientists and staff within the Reproductive Biology research team as well as working collaboratively with other Genus teams (for example, Trait Development, Genome , Bio-, commercial IVF).

Education and experience:

• Advance Degree (PhD) in Animal Science, , Biochemistry, , Veterinary Science, or relevant field. • Minimum of seven (7) years post PhD experience developing and leading independent research in an academic or commercial environment, focused on the study of reproductive biology in mammalian systems. • Experience training and managing team members. • Demonstrated expertise in independent scientific endeavors, including publications in peer- reviewed journals, participation in scientific societies, and collaborative research

Knowledge/Skills: • An in depth understanding of oocyte and pre-implantation embryo • Experience using molecular tools in the analysis of embryo development • Knowledge of all aspects of operations • An understanding of the commercial dairy and beef industries • Demonstrated experience in presenting and publishing scientific data • Demonstrated ability to implement research plans and achieve results • Excels at interpersonal relationships, with a positive attitude towards others

Specific accountabilities:

• The Senior Scientist will work closely with the Reproductive Biology Director to identify research projects that will lead to improved reproductive technologies, including the identification and development of new techniques, contacts and potential collaborators. • The Senior Scientist will develop evaluation reports for identified projects for presentation to the Director, including assessment of the merit of the research project, estimation of project timelines, and evaluation of development costs and economic impacts. • The Senior Scientist, following approval by the Genus R&D Leadership Team, will develop collaborative research proposals, including details of budget, timelines, and benchmarks to monitor progress. In addition, this position will prepare and present progress reports of these collaborations. • The Senior Scientist will develop, finalize, and present posters and presentations at internal and external scientific conferences and workshops, and assist the Director with presentations. • The Senior Scientist will summarize, statistically analyze, prepare and publish scientific data in peer reviewed journals, after ensuring that data is collected using robust recording methodologies. • The Senior Scientist will provide knowledge and technical support for other scientists and embryologists in reproduction and related areas, and training as needed. • The Senior Scientist will ensure that the image of Genus R&D remains professional at all times, and will maintain professional verbal and written communications with co-workers, internal and external collaborators, and vendors. • The Senior Scientist will actively work with the Genus R&D team in the decision making process for Reproductive Biology research projects.
